All of our itineraries are custom created to suit both your interests and budget for the ultimate safari experience. We recommend owner-operated lodges and hotels as well as places that are members of a group. Wherever we suggest that you stay please be assured that we take care to ensure that the lodges and hotel are clean, have good food and superior service, Lodges and camps range in size from a few tents or rooms to large facilities. Most have laundry service and many offer Internet service (bear in mind this can be very slow in Tanzania!) and may have a pool and gift shop.
Accommodation varies from hotels (in Arusha, Dar, Zanzibar and along the coast) to lodges (in and near the wildlife parks), permanent tented camps (basically a lodge with rooms made from canvas and often accommodating fewer people) to mobile or semi-mobile tented camps (classic safari accommodation with varying degrees of amenities such as drop toilets and bucket showers).
As certain periods are “high season” for safaris it may not always be possible to confirm your stay at your first choice of accommodation.
In and near Arusha you can choose from any of the below spontaneous choices:-
Arusha Coffee Lodge (ElewanaGroup)
Situated next to the Arusha Airport where most of the daily flights for the northern safari circuit depart from, Arusha Coffee Lodge is planted in the middle of Tanzania’s largest coffee estate. The popular lodge has a classic appearance and lovely furnishings with eighteen ‘plantation houses’ featuring a split-level living room area and a private deck patio.
Kia Lodge(MoivaroGroup)
Kia Lodge is conveniently located right at Kilimanjaro International Airport, making it a perfect place for arrival night or to book a dayroom before departure. There is a pool, gift shop, welcoming bar and open dining room. Each of the forty thatched cottages is air-conditioned and often has a view of Kilimanjaro across the plains.
Mt.Meru Game Lodge
Conveniently located for arrival into JRO, this small boutique lodge is a lovely choice. Breakfast with zebra, ostrich and other assorted wildlife is a bonus.
River Trees
This popular owner operated lodge nestled between Kilimanjaro and Mount Meru, in natural gardens along the Usa River, is known for its country atmosphere and delicious food. Combining old world ambiance, African country elegance, excellent farm cuisine, personal service and genuine warmth from the hosts, Rivertrees is simply a magical place to stay.
Karama Lodge
Another small, unique and specialized lodge with “tree house” accommodation, friendly service and good food. Sundowners are often rewarded with exceptional views of Mt Kilimanjaro.
