The coast of Tanzania is blessed with miles of white sandy beaches, tropical oceans, friendly people and blissfull absence of large resorts. The northern Tanzania stretch from Dar es Salaam to Tanga and is very popular with local residents but few tourists avail themselves of this well kept secret. Life on the coast is laid back. There is sisal and coconut plantations in this part of the country.

Pangani is an interesting small town about 50 kms south of Tanga. There is a strong cultural tourism program easily found in the small town. It’s fun to watch the produce come down the river from the interior and the birding is quite good.
