Kilimanjaro is the highest mountain on the African continent and considered to be the largest free standing (not part of a range) mountain in the world. To climb Mt.Kili is a dream, to achieve it is a challenge. At 19,340 ft ( 5895 mt) the mountain does not pose any technical difficulties but will require several months of serious training to prepare yourself for the attempt of climbing it. Many people say it’s the hardest thing they’ve ever done and in the next breath start planning for their next ascent!

There are many routes up Kilimanjaro. The Marangu (or ‘Coca Cola’ route as it’s nicknamed) is the most popular and therefore the most heavily travelled. Overnights are spent in “huts” by the tourists climbing the mountain. The other routes are more scenic with fewer climbers encountered en-route. Longer climb times also allow for acclimatization which can lead to better chances of reaching the summit.

The best months to climb are during the dry seasons of Jun to Sep and Feb to Mar.
